Importing settings for file types

You (or another user) can import the customized settings into another project. You can also import settings that have been saved from SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3, and (for XML file types) from Trados Studio 2009 SP1 and SP2. These settings files have the extension *.sdlfiletype.

Before you begin

You need one or more files consisting of file type settings.

Procedure

  1. Decide for which projects you want to configure file type settings:
    • For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
    • For all future projects, go to File > Options.
  2. Select File Types from the navigation tree on the left.
  3. Select Import Settings.
    • If the file type name (as given in the settings) is defined in the current settings, the imported settings overwrite the current settings.
    • If the file type does not exist, you will be asked if you want to create a new file type based on the imported settings. Usually, you should do so.
