Importing XML Parser rules

You can import Parser rules from the file type settings of other files, from schema files and from other XML files. You can import them when you create an XML file type (in the Create File Type wizard), or at any time later, using the Import button on the Parser Rules page.

Procedure

  1. Decide for which projects you want to configure file type settings:
    • For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
    • For all future projects, go to File > Options.
  2. Expand the File Types tree.
  3. Expand the XML file type for which you want to customize the Parser page.
  4. Select the Parser page.
  5. Select Import... and browse for the file. The following options are available:
    Settings FileDescription
    SDL Trados 2007 files .INI

Extract and import the Parser rules from the file type settings.

    SDLX analysis files.ANL

Extract and import the Parser rules from the SDLX file type settings.

    XML files.XML

Import a simple set of Parser rules from an XML file. The rules will contain a list of elements and attributes from the XML file. You will still need to edit the parser rules for each element to set translatability settings and so on.

    XML schema .XSD

These provide more information than the XML files. For example, they will define inline and structure elements.

    ITS Rules files .XML

The W3 Consortium standard Internationalization Tag Set defined in http://www.w3.org/TR/its/

    XML schema .DTD

Import a simple set of parser rules from a DTD file. Review the imported rules and add new ones on the Parser Rules page to make sure that SDL Trados Studio handles matching elements correctly.
