Merging segments

You can combine two segments into one segment, in the Editor window, of the Editor view, when the automatic segmentation rules do not perform an accurate, linguistic parsing of your text.

About this task

Segmentation rules are based on a set of fixed rules which do not always segment in a way that makes sense. Therefore, it may be necessary to merge or split a segment to correct the segmentation.

You can merge segments from the same paragraph or you can also merge across paragraphs.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Projects view and select the project you want to work on.
  2. Go to the Files view and double-click the file you want to work on.
  3. In the Editor window, hold down the Ctrl key and select the segment number column to select rows you want to merge.
  4. Right-click in the segment number column of the last selected row and, on the context menu, select Merge Segments. If there are any translations for the merged segments, those translations are merged.

You cannot merge locked segments or segments that contain Translation Quality Assessment items (TQAs).

Merge across paragraphs works in the same way, but you must enable the option first.
