Packages and return packages for SDL Trados GroupShare users

SDL Trados GroupShare supports packages when working with a mixed online/offline workflow. You can send project packages to SDL Trados Studio team members who do not have access to the Trados GroupShare Project Server or create return packages to send back the translated files to enterprise team members who work in SDL WorldServer or TMS.

Creating packages

If you want to include files in a project package from a Trados GroupShare project, the latest versions of the files are automatically downloaded and checked out from the Project Server when you create the package. If there are files that are currently checked out by other users on the Trados GroupShare server, you will not be able to include those files in the package. A warning message indicating why the file is not selected for processing is displayed on the Select Files page of the wizard.

Creating return packages

If you want to include files in a return package from a Trados GroupShare project, the latest versions of the files are automatically downloaded but are NOT checked out from the Project Server when you create the package.

To ensure that you have the most up-to-date files to include in the return package, SDL recommends that you only create return packages when:
  • You are connected to the Project Server.
  • All of the files you want to include in the package have been checked in by other users.
