Running default batch task sequences on new projects

When you create a project, the last steps of the project creation wizard enable you to run batch task sequences which prepare your project components before you actually start any translation work. There are several intuitive, default batch task sequences: Prepare without project TM, Prepare, Analyze Only and Pseudo-translate Round Trip.

About this task

In order to run the default batch task sequences involved in project creation, you must go through the steps of the project creation wizard. The current procedure briefly describes the wizard pages which precede the batch task sequences. For a more detailed step-by-step account of project creation, consult the relevant topics.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Projects view.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Tasks group, select New Project and go through the wizard pages:
    1. On the Project Type page, choose whether you want to create your project based on a project template or a previous project.
    2. On the Project Details page, specify your project name, description, location, due date, customer and whether the project will be shared via SDL Trados GroupShare.
    3. On the Project Languages page, select the source and target languages of the project.
    4. On the Project Files page, add the files or the file folders which need to be translated.
    5. On the Translation Memory and Automated Translation page, add or enable TMs.
    6. On the Termbases page, add or enable TBs.
    7. On the SDL PerfectMatch page, leverage previously translated files which have the same structure and a very similar content to the one you currently need to translate.
  3. On the Project Preparation page, choose the task sequence which runs on all your project files before any translation work begins. Choose a task sequence from the list and consult its description and associated batch tasks.
