Running SDL Trados Studio from the command line

You may find it useful to run SDL Trados Studio from the command line, for example to start the program with a specified project opened.

Running Trados Studio

Assume Trados Studio is installed in %programfiles(x86)%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5:

Procedure

  1. Press Windows logo key + R.
  2. In the Run dialog, type: %programfiles(x86)%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\SDLTradosStudio.exe

Displaying the command line usage for SDLTradosStudio.exe

Assume Trados Studio is installed in %programfiles(x86)%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5:

Procedure

  1. Press Windows logo key + R. The Run dialog is displayed.
  2. In the Run dialog, type: %programfiles(x86)%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\SDLTradosStudio.exe /help
    All the command line arguments for SDLTradosStudio.exe are displayed. Command line arguments are not case sensitive.

Running Trados Studio to start with a specified document

Assume Trados Studio is installed in %programfiles(x86)%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5 and the document you want to open is: %Documents and Settings%\User\My Documents\example.docx

To run Trados Studio so that it starts with the document open for translation:

Procedure

  1. Press Windows logo key + R.
    The Run dialog is displayed.
  2. In the Run dialog, type: %programfiles(x86)%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5 /opendocument %Documents and Settings%\User\My Documents\example.docx"
