SDL Trados GroupShare server connections

To access server-based translation memories (TMs), termbases (TBs) and online projects which are stored on SDL Trados GroupShare servers, you must manage the servers that facilitate this interaction.

You must add the server name and connection details to SDL Trados Studio , but you can edit or remove the servers, at any time if necessary. If you have access to resources stored on more than one server, you can add all the servers. Once you have added a server, SDL Trados Studio stores the connection settings. Therefore, you can connect to the server whenever you want to use the resources stored on the server.

Server settings

Servers are managed in the Servers dialog where you can:

  • View the list of servers that you have added to SDL Trados Studio .
  • See the status of server (for example, Available, Unknown, Authentication Failed).
  • Add and delete servers.
  • Store server login credentials.
  • Clear stored server login credentials.
To display the Servers dialog, go to File > Setup > Servers.

Server credentials

Each time you connect to a server you are asked to provide a user name and a password. These are your user credentials for the server. SDL Trados Studio can store your user name and password, and apply them automatically whenever you connect to the server. Enable this option, by selecting Do not prompt me again, in the Add/Edit SDL Server dialog.

SDL servers

You can purchase several servers from SDL. These are all SDL Trados GroupShare components, which can be installed from one common installer.
