Working with filters in the TM View

The Translation Memories view enables you to filter the translation units (TUs) of your translation memories (TMs) to optimize the way you work with translated strings.

You can:
  • Filter translation units out of the view when you are browsing a translation memory.
  • Filter unwanted translation units out of a data import or export.
  • Create a smaller search set and get quicker, more targeted search results by combining a filter with a search.

Filter management is performed in the Search Details window in the Translation Memories view.

Create Filters

You can quickly create a filter in the Search Details window and apply it to the . You can save the filter or you can abandon the filter when you have finished using it.

Filters are translation memory specific. When you save a filter, it is saved for use with the translation memory for which it was created.

Import and Export Filters

You can export a filter to a file and then import the filter for use with a different translation memory. Because filters use translation memory fields, the translation memory for which you import a filter, must have the same basic structure as the translation memory for which it was created.
