Working with shared projects in SDL Trados GroupShare

SDL Trados GroupShare is a translation collaboration product that works in tandem with SDL Trados Studio. SDL Trados GroupShare contains a server-based project sharing component called Project Server which enables you to upload and share your projects online. With the help of SDL Trados GroupShare and SDL Trados Studio, you can collaborate on translation projects in a more efficient and centralized way.

SDL Trados GroupShare includes the following components:
  • Project Server
  • TM Server
  • SDL MultiTerm Server

SDL Trados GroupShare servers

Project Server is a central repository for your SDL Trados GroupShare projects and the files within those projects. Project Server offers project management functionality and controls the permissions for accessing the project and resources within that project.

TM Server is installed in combination with Project Server enabling you to manage server-based translation memories (TM) within the project.

SDL MultiTerm Server can be installed in combination with Project Server enabling you to manage termbase resources within the project.

Monitor shared projects

SDL Trados GroupShare projects can have multiple users working on different project files at the same time, which means that you do not need to distribute project packages containing the work to be completed. Project managers can also track the progress of the work that is checked in.

If you are a project manager and want to see the progress of the checked in work on the Project Server, you can view this information in the Projects view and Files view in SDL Trados Studio. Statistics about the progress of the translation are automatically downloaded from the Project Server to your copy of SDL Trados Studio.

To see the most up-to-date statistics for work that have been checked in, go to Projects view > View tab > Refresh View. Refreshing the view updates the project statistics, but it does not download the latest version of the files. You can download the latest version of a file using the Download Latest Version command.
