Publishing a Target Group with a Context Expression

If a Target Group has a Context Expression tab (created by an integration with SDL CMA), you can publish it to make the context expression available for processing by the Context Engine Cartridge. Web developers can use the resulting Claims to personalize the Web site.

Procedure

  1. Access the Content Manager Explorer Web site.
  2. Navigate to a Folder that contains a Target Group defined by a context expression. This is the case if the Target Group has a Context Expression tab, and no Definition tab. Note that the Context Expression tab is read-only, because this type of Target Group can only be created or modified by the integration with SDL CMA, not by an end user of Content Manager Explorer.
  3. Publish the Target Group in one of the following ways:
    • Select the Target Group in list view and select Publish from the ribbon Home tab.
    • Open the Target Group and in the dialog that opens, select Publish from the ribbon Home tab.
  4. Check the Publishing Queue to follow the publishing process.

Results

Once published to a Presentation Server, the context expression is picked up by the Context Engine Cartridge and added it to its set of Claims. Note that you can unpublish the Target Group, but you cannot roll back or undo the publish of the Target Group.
