Setting up Content Distribution

Content Distribution requires configuration on the Content Manager and on the Presentation Server. The following procedure provides an overview of the steps involved in setting up Content Distribution.

Procedure

  1. Set up Presentation Server—install Content Delivery software on a machine that you intend to use as a Presentation Server:
  2. Set up Content Data Store—install a database where the Presentation Server can store its content:
  3. Configure publishing—in the Content Manager, specify where you want to publish content to by defining Target Types and Publication Targets:
  4. Configure Transport Service—in the Content Manager, configure the Transport Service:
  5. Configure Deployment—on the Presentation Server, configure content deployment and if necessary customize deployment behavior:
  6. Configure storage and caching—on the Presentation Server, configure the storage and caching of content in the Storage Layer configuration file:
  7. Test Content Distribution—test Content Distribution by publishing content from the Content Manager and verifying that it appears on a Web page on the Presentation Server.
