Getting started: Authoring

Authoring is the actual creation of content. You can do it easily using Publication Manager.

As part of your everyday duties, you write new content, update existing content and delete obsolete content. SDL Tridion Docs assists you in carrying out these tasks according to DITA standards. Authoring will therefore involve:
  • Creating topics
  • Adding topics to maps
  • Editing topics

This section helps getting you started with these actions.

Your content is stored in the Repository. We assume in this authoring guide that your organization has already structured the Repository. We also assume that at least one publication is present in the Repository. You'll find more about publications in Getting started: Managing publications.

Whenever we describe actions involving a third-party XML editor, the examples are inspired by the JustSystems XMetaL editor. The other XML editors have a similar behavior but minor user interface details may differ.
