In-context Perfect Matching
If Content Manager is configured for In-context Perfect Matching, the system tries to reduce the translation work as much as possible by pre-translating data that had been previously translated and did not change.
In-context perfect matching compares the released XML topic with its previous release in the source language. XML elements that were not changed between the two releases in the source language are detected and the previous translation is marked and copied so that the translation is not repeated. Because In-context perfect matching compares and copies elements from previous versions of the translation, In-context Perfect Matching does not work on the first version of a map or topic.
While comparing two versions, the XML structure of the documents is compared. Changing the structure of your XML file is seen as a change, and consequently there is no in-context perfect match. For example, adding a white space between two XML elements, or an XML editor adding invisible XML elements, are both considered a change of the XML structure and therefore, there is no in-context perfect match.
In-context Perfect Matching explained step by step
- A first version of a topic (V1 in the illustration) is available in English (content elements are green in the illustration) and in French (content elements are red).
- A second version of the English topic is released (V2 in the illustration).
- Content Manager compares this second English version with the first English version and notices that only one XML content element is updated (content element is blue).
- Content Manager generates the French version that has to be translated as part of the normal Content Manager translation management functionality.
- Content Manager prepares the file by copying the French content that did not change in the source language from the existing version in French.
- The blocks that were previously translated and did not change are marked with the XML element,
<preTranslation>.For example (English-German):<body id="5E33769DFF71"> <preTranslation> <title lang="en">Front seats</title> <title lang="de">Vordersitze</title> </preTranslation> <preTranslation id="7CB9030FDBBD"> <section id="7CB9030FDBBD" lang="en"> <title>Manual seats adjustment</title> <ptxt>Pull the lever up while you slide the seat forward or backward to the desired position.</ptxt> </x:section> <section id="7CB9030FDBBD" lang="de"> <title>Manuelle Sitzeinstellung</title> <ptxt>Ziehen Sie den Hebel nach oben, während Sie den Sitz in die gewünschte Stellung nach vorn oder nach hinten schieben.</ptxt> <section> <preTranslation> <body>
Example
In the following example, all content that could be matched (a corresponding translation could be found in a previous translation) is highlighted in grey. The content that changed or was added is shown without a corresponding translation and is not highlighted.
