How can I make a branched version become unbranched?

You cannot unbranch a version however you can carry changes from a branch, to a higher version in the main version tree.

Question: I branched a version of my topic and now want the modifications in my current version. Can I unbranch it?

A branch is the start of completely separate life cycle of an object. Branches never get merged however, you can manually carry changes from a branch, to a higher version in the main version tree.

  1. Open the main version of the object in your authoring tool.

This is the version in which you want to include the branched version modifications.

  2. Click SDL Tridion Docs > Compare.
  3. In the To version field, select the branched version to compare to the main version.
  4. Modify the current, main version topic with the changes as displayed in the Differences window.
