Configuring a Publication Target for targeting (deprecated)

If you are still using the old SDL Tridion-type publishing framework that was deprecated in SDL Tridion Sites, you manage Promotions and Triggers between SDL Tridion Sites and Fredhopper by configuring properties in the Targeting tab of a Publication Target. A Publication Target defines the information required to publish content in the deprecated publishing framework.

Before you begin

To configure a Publication Target, you require System Administrator privileges.

About this task

You will need to configure Publication Targets for at least the following Publication Targets (the names are used as examples):
Publication TargetDescription
StagingPublishes content to an internal Web site where users can manage content using Experience Manager
LivePublishes content to public-facing Web sites

Both targets require the Experience Optimization Management service to be installed on the Content Delivery server.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Content Explorer.
  2. Select Administration in the navigation pane.
  3. In Publishing Management > Publication Targets, open your Publication Target that points to your staging environment.
  4. In the Targeting tab, specify the fields as follows:
    PropertyValue
Environment NameA logical name for the environment. The value you enter appears in the Source drop-down menu in the Targeting Dashboard (users can create and manage Experiments and Promotions published to this Publication Target).
Management Service URLThe Web address of the Experience Optimization Management service, that is, http://HOSTNAME:8093/management.svc, where HOSTNAME refers to the machine on which the Management service runs. The URL you specify for a Publication Target must be unique: that is, one Management service can point to exactly one Fredhopper instance.
Use as defaultSelect if you want Experiments and Promotions defined for this environment to be displayed to users by default.
Access Token URLIf OAuth authentication is enabled on the Management service (this is the case by default), the URL of the Content Delivery Token Service, that is, http://HOSTNAME:8082/token.svc, where HOSTNAME refers to the machine on which the Discovery Service and Token Service run.
Client IDIf OAuth authentication is enabled on the Management service, the Client ID used to acquire as token, that is, a user in the cm role, such as cmuser.
Client secretIf OAuth authentication is enabled on the Management service, the password user by the user under Client ID to obtain a token.
  5. Repeat the process to configure the Publication Target that points to your live environment.
  6. Click Save and Close to commit your changes.
