Target Types
A Target Type specifies a user-friendly name for one or more Publication Targets. When a user publishes content from the Content Manager, they need to select one or more Target Types. Content is then published to the Publication Targets associated with these Target Types.
When a user publishes content from the Content Manager, they need to select one or more Target Types. Content is then published to the Publication Targets associated with these Target Types.
For example, an organization typically has Staging and Live Target Types:
- Staging—a Target Type to which authors can publish content.
- Live—a Target Type to which editors can publish content.
The Staging Target Type publishes to a local file system, while the Live Target Type may publish to an HTTP server that is accessible by external visitors.
