Tracking e-mail link clicking

To monitor e-mail response you can track whether a recipient opened an e-mail and whether a recipient clicked a link within the e-mail.

You can choose to track all links or track specific links as follows:

  • Set the Track Links parameter to Yes in the Outbound E-mail Post-Processing Template Building Block to convert all links in an e-mail into trackable links.
  • If you do not want to create each trackable links for all links, set the Track Links parameter to No and use the GetLinkTrackingURL() method in your Dreamweaver Templates.

To insert individual trackable links, use the GetLinkTrackingURL('URL' or "TCM:URI", 'Title') Dreamweaver templating method to convert a URL or Component into a trackable link where:

  • URL is a URL to track, for example 'http://www.sdltridion.com'.
  • TCM:URI is a URI of a Component to track, for example "tcm:42-4711-16").
  • Title (optional) is the title of the link, as the Statistics screen will display it (if you leave this parameter empty or leave it out altogether, the specified URL or URI is used as the title).

If the e-mail recipient clicks the link, they are redirected to the URL or Component specified. Outbound E-mail tracks the clicking of the link and adds it to the Mailing statistics.
