Connector for Brightcove usage in Content Manager

When you deploy the Tridion Connector for Brightcove with Tridion Sites, Content Manager users can access videos, playlists and players that are stored in Brightcove Video Cloud and use it in their websites.

When the Connector for Brightcove is implemented with Tridion Sites, the Content Manager includes it as a mount point in a Publication's tree structure at the same level as Tridion Sites native content.

Through the Content Manager user interface, editors and other end users do the following actions with external data from Brightcove Video Cloud:
  • List folders and files
  • View asset metadata, including state, duration, cue points and other information
  • Perform a free text search for assets
  • Select assets (videos, playlists and players) for use on Pages and in Component Links, and so on

A Publication provides Brightcove content in three folders for each type of content: Players, Media and Playlists

The following screen capture illustrates the Media folder as it would appear in Content Manager Explorer (the Classic user interface):

The assets exposed by the Connector for Brightcove can be used on Components and on Pages in the same way as ordinary Tridion Sites assets. When you publish Components or Pages, the selected Brightcove media assets and associated metadata gets included.
