Connector for Magento usage in Content Manager

When you deploy the Tridion Connector for Magento with Tridion Sites, Content Manager users can access product data that is stored in Magento Commerce and use it in their websites.

When the Tridion Connector for Magento is implemented with Tridion Sites, the Content Manager includes it as a mount point in a Publication's tree structure at the same level as Tridion Sites native content.

The following screen capture illustrates the Magento Commerce mount point in Content Manager Explorer, including the products list for a selected category:

Through the Content Manager user interface, editors and other end users do the following actions with external data from Magento Commerce:
  • List categories and products
  • Search for products
  • Select products to be used on Pages, in Component links, and so on
  • View product information, such as the product's description, price or stock value

A user can browse and view the external content from the different Content Manager user interfaces just as they would internal Multimedia Components. The following screen capture illustrates a Magento Commerce product image that is opened to view product details on the External Metadata tab:

The following screen capture illustrates selecting the same product image for a Page while working in Experience Manager:

When these Components and Pages get published, the Connector retrieves and downloads the product references from Magento Commerce and includes them in the publish package that gets sent to the target website. Tridion Content Delivery can subsequently use these product references to get real-time product information (through the Content Service).
