Adding images and other binaries to a Dreamweaver Template

Add a binary item to your template by dragging an item from the Dreamweaver site tree into it.

Content Manager detects items added to the template as being in use by the Template and as a result:

  • displays the binary items in the Content Manager Explorer Where Used lists
  • prohibits the binary items from being deleted from the Content Manager
  • automatically adds the binary items associated with the Component or Page to the package
  • maintains links to these binary items

To ensure that the files associated with the page are handled and published correctly, you must make sure that the following conditions hold:

  • You have saved any images, stylesheets, Javascript files and other resources used in the Template (dependent items) explicitly to a Content Manager Folder before saving the template, so that the dependencies between them are handled correctly.
  • The Compound Template of which this Dreamweaver Template Building Block is a part must also contain the default Template Building Block called Publish binaries in package or the default Template Building Block Default finish actions which contains Publish binaries in package.
  • Your Content Manager must support the Multimedia Type of the binary file you add. Specifically, the Default Multimedia Schema of the Publication to which you save must contain this Multimedia Type. For more information about the Default Multimedia Schema and its Multimedia Types, refer to Multimedia Types.

If these conditions are met, Content Manager publishes the binary files contained in Multimedia Components referenced when this Adobe Dreamweaver Template is used and replaces the link text with the actual published path of the binary in the final Compound Template output.
