Change the Topology Type only if you have a pressing reason to do so. Changing the Topology Type of an existing Business Process Types deletes all Target Types associated with that Topology Type, along with all their settings.
Procedure
- Access the Content Manager Explorer website.
- If you see the Home screen, select Content Explorer.
- In the tree on the left, expand the Publication that contains the Business Process Type you want to modify and select the Business Process Types subnode.
A list of Business Process Types appears in the content area.
- Select the Business Process Type you want to modify and in the Home tab, select Properties.
A dialog for the Business Process Type opens.
- In the Target Types tab, you can change the Topology Type.
CAUTION:
if you modify the Topology Type, the current Topology Type setting, including all of its Target Types and their settings, are deleted. You cannot undo this operation.
You are prompted to confirm that you want to discard your exiting Topology Type. If you confirm, a list of Purposes appears, with an empty Target Type next to each one.
- If you changed the Topology Type, you must define a Target Type for each purpose. If you did not change the Topology Type, you can choose to modify one or more of the Target Types you defined previously for each Purpose.
- To define or modify a Target Type, select a Purpose row in the list on the left for the Target Type you want to define or modify.
On the right, a General subtab and a Security subtab for the Target Type appear.
- In the General subtab, define or modify (as needed) the general properties of the Target Type as follows:
- Change the value of the Name field, which defaults to a generated name for the Target Type, to something more descriptive.
- Describe the Target Type in the Description field.
- Click Save and Close to submit your changes.
