Configuring linked items to be included in translation jobs
In Schemas, you can configure Component fields that are linked to other Components to also be translated when the 'container' Component is sent for translation.
Before you begin
You must have the following rights and permissions in the Content Manager to create or edit a Schema:
- Rights
-
- Schema Management rights
- Write permissions for the Folder in which the Schema is located
- Translation management system support for ITS
- Translatable fields require ITS (Internationalization Tag Set) support. Perform these steps if you are using SDL WorldServer 10.1 or SDL TMS 2011 SP1 and later.
About this task
When a Component based on a Schema is sent for translation, you can configure your Schema fields to allow all Components that are referenced from it to also be sent for translation. This is called 'resolving links'. When configured, you do not have to manually add all linked Components when sending the 'container' Component for translation, this will be done automatically.
Configure links to be resolved by selecting the Include linked Items in translations check box. This check box is only available for Schema types that can contain a link to another Component:
- Schemas (simple)
- Embeddable Schemas
- Metadata Schemas
- Multimedia Schemas
- Bundle Schemas
- External Link
- Multimedia Link
- Component Link
- Text set to allow Rich Text Formatting (Format areas)
- Text set to be a Keywords List
Procedure
- Open Content Manager Explorer.
- Navigate to the Publication and Folder in which your Schemas are located.
- Select a Schema and choose Open in the context menu.
- In the Design tab or Metadata Design tab, select the Schema field you want to configure.
- Select the Include linked Items in translations check box.
- Click Save and Close.
