Configuring Target Types in your Business Process Type
For each Target Types associated with the Topology Type you selected in your Business Process Type, you can set a Minimal Approval Status (to specify when your content can be published) and a Priority (to specify how fast you content can or should be published). You can also restrict who can use this Target Type.
Procedure
- Access the Content Manager Explorer website.
- Navigate to, and expand, the Publication that contains the Business Process Type you want to update. Expand the Publication and its Business Process Types node.
- Open the Business Process Type you want to modify.
- Select the Target Types tab.
- Select the Target Type you want to configure further.
- Select the General subtab on the right.
- If you want to select a value for the Minimal Approval Status field, do so. This field specifies the minimum workflow status required for an item in workflow in order for the item to be published. If the workflow version of an item does not have the required status, the latest checked-in version is published instead. By default, this property is set to (None), which means that items can be published at any time, regardless of their workflow status.
- If you want to change the value of the Priority field, do so. This field specifies the priority (high, normal or low) that publish actions to this Target Type have relative to other Target Types: a Target Type with high priority will get its content published sooner than one with normal priority. Consider setting Priority to low for your staging site, because the staging site does not need to be up to date.
- In the Security subtab, define who can publish to the Target Type as follows:
- Select each User or Group that you want to allow to publish to this Target Type in turn, and select Use Target Type on the right for the selected User or Group. By default, all Users and Groups are not allowed to use this Target Type.
- If you want to specify an exception (say, disallow a specific User from publishing to this Target Type even though they are a member of a Group that can), select Show Exceptions, select the User or Group for which you want to configure the exception at bottom left, and select or clear Use Target Type at bottom right for the selected User or Group as needed.
