Configuring translatable fields in Schemas
You can control what fields are sent for translation by configuring your Schemas.
Before you begin
You must have the following rights and permissions in the Content Manager to create or edit a Schema:
- Rights
-
- Schema Management rights
- Write permissions for the Folder in which the Schema is located
- Translation management system support for ITS
- Translatable fields require ITS (Internationalization Tag Set) support. Perform these steps if you are using SDL WorldServer 10.1 or SDL TMS 2011 SP1 onwards.
About this task
You can control which Text fields and External Link fields are sent for translation in Schemas by selecting the Translatable check box in:
- Schema fields
- Embeddable Schema fields
- Schema metadata fields
- Multimedia Schema metadata fields
- Metadata Schema fields
- Bundle Schema metadata fields
You can translate Text fields provided the values are not selected from a list. You translate External Link fields, for example, if you want to translate a URL such as google.co.uk to google.nl. In a simple Schema (a Schema that defines Component fields), you can also control whether to translate the Component name.
