Creating a BluePrint
To create a BluePrint, create a root Publication and then a BluePrint hierarchy in Content Manager Explorer. For a Child Publication that has more than one Parent Publication, define priority to determine where the Publication shares an item from.
- Using the BluePrint viewer
The BluePrint viewer shows the Parent-Child relationships and the Publications at each level of the BluePrint hierarchy. In the Home tab, you can perform actions such as creating or deleting Child Publications and or removing Parent Publications. The View tab shows BluePrint relationships in different ways. - Creating a root Publication
A primary Parent Publication contains items to share to all Publications in the BluePrint. When you create Child associations with other Publications, the Child Publication contains shared structure, design, and content items. Each BluePrint contains one primary Parent Publication, which must have a root Structure Group. - Creating a Child Publication
In the BluePrint viewer, you can select a Publication in the BluePrint and create a new Child Publication. After you have created a Child Publication, it is only possible to add additional Parent Publications that share the same primary Parent Publication. - Adding a Parent Publication
A Child Publication can have more than one Parent Publication. You can add a Parent Publication to a Child Publication in the BluePrint viewer or in the BluePrinting tab of a Publication. - Deleting a Child Publication
Delete a Publication to remove the Publication and all of its content from the Content Manager. You cannot delete a Publication from which items have been published. Note also that you can only delete a Child Publication; you cannot delete a Parent Publication. - Removing a Parent Publication
You can remove the Parent Publication relationship from a Child Publication provided a number of conditions are met. - Setting Publication priority
If a Child Publication has more than one Parent Publication, you can define priority in the Publication properties BluePrinting tab to determine where the Publication shares an item from. - Inserting a Parent Publication on creation
When you create a Publication you can associate a Parent Publication with the Publication in the Publication BluePrinting tab to create a Child Publication in the BluePrint hierarchy. After you have created a Child Publication, you can only add additional Parent Publications that share the same root Publication.
