Apply a Site Type to a Content Publication to create a new Site.
Before you begin
You can use the Site Wizard if both of the following are true:
- The Site Wizard has been set up.
- You have the Child Publication Creation privilege.
Procedure
- Access the Content Manager Explorer website.
- From the slide-out navigation menu on the left, select Sites.
- In the Sites dashboard, select Create a new Site at top right.
- In the Site Wizard, start by giving your site a unique, new name and click Next.
- Select what kind of Site you want to create by selecting the Site Type. This determines not only how the Site will look and behave, but also where it will be published. Then click Next.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want your Site to reuse or localize content from another Publication, select that Publication and click Next. In order to publish or unpublish, users must have publish rights in the actual Publication being used rather than in the alternative Publication(s) specified here.
- If you want your site to have completely new content, select Use the site itself for the creation, organizing and saving of content and click Next.
- If you want the content of the Site you are creating to end up in a different Publication than the one you are creating now, specify which type of content to handle in this manner. Then click Next.
- Specify at which URL the Site will become available by specifying a URL path segment for the Site. If the Site gets published to multiple destinations, you can choose to specify a different URL path segment for each. If you specify no value for a URL path segment, a root location is assumed. If your Publication will be published to a file system rather than to a database, the path segment you specify here must match the Publication Path property you specify in the General tab of the Publication. You can see at the bottom of the screen what the URL or URLs of your new Site are going to be. Click Next when you are happy with the URL or URLs you see.
Important: Your URL path segments must not contain spaces.
- Confirm that you agree with the settings you have specified and click Finish to create your new Site.
