Creating an Editor extension for inline editing
You can add an extension for inline editing to an existing Editor, or create a new Editor.
About this task
Your motivation for extending inline editing may be one of the following:
- You have already created an Editor that extends Content Manager Explorer, and you want to apply the same customizations to inline editing. In this case, update the configuration of the existing Editor.
- You want to create completely new customizations that you want to apply exclusively to inline editing. In this case, create a new Editor from scratch.
If you already have an Editor defined for Content Manager Explorer, and you want to the standard user interface, you can add a new ext:editorextension section to the ext:editorextension section of the configuration of that Editor, and set its target attribute to SiteEdit. Alternatively, if you want to or need to create a separate Editor for your inline editing extensions, create a completely new Editor.
Procedure
- To update the configuration of an existing Editor, open the configuration file for that Editor.
- Find the
ext:editorextensionssection. - Add a new
ext:editorextensionsection here, following the instructions in the SDL Tridion documentation, and set itstargetattribute to the valueSiteEdit. - Alternatively, to create a new Editor, follow the instructions for creating a new Editor and Editor configuration, but in the configuration, set the target of the
ext:editorextensionelement toSiteEdit, notCME.
