Defining fallback content

Fallback content defines the content that is displayed when no content items is returned, or if Experience Optimization times out. You add fallback content in your Dreamweaver template containing the webpage design.

Before you begin

To create templates you must have Template Management rights as well as Write permissions for the Folder in which you intend to create the Compound Template.

Procedure

  1. In the Content Manager Explorer, open your Dreamweaver Template Building Block.
  2. Open the Source tab:
  3. In the <tcdl:region> element tag, define fallback content:
    • Add static HTML
    • Add dynamic content using <tcdl:ComponentPresentation> tags
    <tcdl:region id="sidebar" type="SmartTarget">
         
        <br>Fallback content goes here.</br>
        <br> <tcdl:ComponentPresentation type="Dynamic" componentURI="tcm:6-1072" templateURI="tcm:6-66-32"></tcdl:ComponentPresentation></br>
    
    </tcdl:region>
  4. Click Save and Close.

What to do next

Make sure that Component Presentations used as fallback content are published.
