Export and import business rules
Exporting from, or importing into, a Content Manager is subject to certain business rules and may sometimes result in data loss.
- Non-exportable items
Some types of items in the Content Manager database cannot be exported. Content items such as Components, Pages and Folders, and structure items such as Schemas, Templates and Categories can be transferred. But more technical items in Content Manager cannot be exported. - Export and import constraints
A transfer from one Content Manager to another applies certain rules concerning checked-out items, items in workflow, secure items, items that are invalid against their Schema, BluePrint structures, and root items. - Undoing an import into Content Manager 2013 SP1 or later
After you have successfully performed an import, you have the option to undo the import. - Non-exportable items

Content Porter can perform a transfer of content between different versions of the Content Manager of SDL Tridion Sites or SDL Tridion. - Selecting items to transfer
During the export and the import procedures you can select items to transfer from the selection tree view (although you cannot import items that have not been exported). - Undoing an import into Content Manager 2013 SP1 or later
