Export constraints

An export from a Content Manager applies certain rules concerning items in workflow, items in a Bundle, secure items, BluePrint structures, and root items.

Items in workflow

You cannot export a version of an item that is in workflow, not even if the item is assigned to the user who is performing the transfer.

Instead, the version that will be exported is the last version that either finished a workflow process or was saved outside a workflow process. If there is no last version to export (that is, if the item is in its first workflow process), you cannot export the item at all.

For best results, make sure that all finished items are no longer in workflow when you perform an export.

Items in a Bundle

When exporting a Bundle, all items in that Bundle are also exported. This may include items that have never been checked in.

Secure items

Items that the user has no read access to cannot be exported. If you configure the export process to prompt the end user, it does halt the export process to allow you to change security settings and try again. For best results, make sure that the user has read access to all items to export when performing the export.
