Publishing content for use in Promotions

To use content in Promotions for targeting purposes, you must first publish the related Components.

Before you begin

Before creating Promotions, you need to first create Components containing your promotional content and publish them. The Components that you create for targeting must use specific Component Templates that have been configured to send the published content. You can then publish the Components and create Promotions that use the content.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Content Explorer.
  2. In the Publication, locate and select one or more Components containing the promotional content, and then click Publish in the toolbar. (you can also right-click the selected items and select Publishing > Publish from the context menu).
    The Publish window appears.
  3. From the list of Target Types on the left, select the environment to which you are publishing.
    For example, you will typically have a "Staging" environment and a "Live" environment:
    • Staging is an environment that is available only to internal users and is where you develop and test targeting functionality and new promotional content. On this environment, you can use Experience Manager for inline editing and testing.
    • Live is your external, public-facing environment where visitors can access your production content.
  4. Click OK to publish.

Results

The content is published to the selected environment
