Resizing an image

You can resize an image to decrease the image's height and width.

About this task

You can resize any PNG or JPEG image that is contained within a Multimedia Component to decrease the image's overall dimensions. The aspect ratio (ratio of width to height) is maintained automatically to prevent distortion of the image.

Procedure

  1. Open the Multimedia Component containing the image, and click Edit.
    The new edit window opens.
  2. Click the Resize button.
The image's current width and height (in pixels) appear beside the image.
  3. Below the current dimensions in the Fit to fields, adjust either the image's height or width.
    • Type a desired value for width or height.
    • Use the up and down arrows to incrementally change the width or height.
If you modify the height, the width will automatically adjust. Likewise if you modify the width, the height will adjust.
  4. When you are satisfied with the image size, click Apply.
The sizing changes are made, and you can continue editing the image.
  5. When you are done with all the image edits you want to make, click Finish Editing.

Results

Your image modifications are saved, but they are permanent only after you have saved the Multimedia Component. If you close the browser window without using one of the Save options, all image edits will be lost.
