Resolving of pull translations

A pull translation is a translation initiated from a Publication which contains target content.

In a pull translation, the items displayed in the Added Items tab of a Translation Job are not the actual content items that are sent—these translation items are retrieved from the owning publication. Items in a pull Translation Job are resolved as follows:

  • Local items are excluded
  • For localized items, the translation configuration is determined from the Publication that would have been the owning Publication had the item not been localized. When looking for the owning publication, a localized item is considered to be the source item if it has been translated (has version 2.0 or higher). Therefore, if an item is localized with version 1.0, 1.1, and so on, the Translation Manager keeps looking up the BluePrint hierarchy to find the translation item.
  • For shared items, the translation configuration is derived from the owning Publication.
  • Duplicate items are removed from the Translation Job when the job is sent to the translation system.
