Review and Preview steps in an SDL WorldServer workflow

You can add a Review and/or a Preview step to SDL WorldServer workflows. This step allows translated content that has been retrieved from SDL WorldServer to be previewed and reviewed before being accepted. The Preview and Review steps are both optional, you can use neither of them, one of them, or both of them.

When a translation job first gets sent back to SDL Tridion Sites, users can preview how the translated content looks in the context of a website, review it and send it back for translation if required, without creating a new job or copying the job.

After a reviewer has made changes or added their comments, the changed content is saved back to SDL WorldServer and translators can see the reviewer's comments.

These are the SDL Tridion Sites transitions that can follow a Review step:

  • ACCEPT: Indicates no further review is needed in SDL Tridion Sites. If there are multiple review activities, typically only the final activity will transition to ACCEPT.
  • REJECT: Indicates the translation is rejected and changes should be made to the translation in the translation system. If there are multiple review activities, a transition to REJECT can be added to all of them.
  • OBSOLETE: Indicates SDL Tridion Sites no longer has the newest translations for this item. This is not a transition that users can make, it is made by Translation Manager. If there are multiple review activities (or any other form of non-automated activities), they should all have a transition to OBSOLETE.

Usually, workflow steps are set up in Schemas and Structure Groups.

The diagram below illustrates the review process actions that occur in SDL WorldServer. The start of the workflow is not included, as this does not relate to the review process. It can include steps such as segmenting the content, applying translation memory, and the first translation and linguistic review steps.

Steps before the Finish step have not been included, as SDL Tridion Sites Translation Manager does not interact with an item after it has been through the "Translated Content Retrieval" step. This is typically where translation memories are updated and invoices are sent.
