Rotating and flipping an image

You can change the orientation of an image by rotating it 90 degrees (a quarter turn) or flipping it vertically or horizontally.

About this task

You can rotate or flip any PNG or JPEG image that is contained within a Multimedia Component. Rotating turns the image in 90-degree increments, while flipping turns reverses the image horizontally or vertically.

Procedure

  1. Open the Multimedia Component containing the image, and click Edit.
    The new edit window opens.
  2. Use the rotation and flipping options, as follows:
    OptionDescription
Rotate LeftRotates the image a quarter of a turn to the left (or 90 degrees counterclockwise)
Rotate RightRotates the image a quarter of a turn to the right (or 90 degrees clockwise)
Flip HorizontalFlips the image horizontally, or from right to left
Flip VerticalFlips the image vertically, or top to bottom.
  3. When you are satisfied with the image, click Apply.
Your rotation or flipping changes are made, and you can continue editing the image.
  4. When you are done with all the image edits you want to make, click Finish Editing.

Results

Your image modifications are saved, but they are permanent only after you have saved the Multimedia Component. If you close the browser window without using one of the Save options, all image edits will be lost.
