Snapshots
A snapshot captures an item as it is at a specific moment in a Workflow Process (specifically, when each Activity finishes). Taking snapshots allows you to see how an item changes as it moves through workflow. If auditing is enabled, snapshots are taken of all items that go through a Workflow Process.
The exact contents of a snapshot depend on the type of item being captured:
- Components
-
A snapshot of a Component captures whatever the Component Template for Component snapshots, as selected in the Workflow tab of the Publication, renders. (By default, the Component Template used is the Default Component Template.)
- Pages
-
A snapshot of a Page captures whatever the Page Template for Page snapshots, as selected in the Workflow tab of the Publication, renders. (By default, the Page Template used is the Page Template configured for the Page in question.)
- Component Templates and Page Templates
-
By default, a snapshot of a Component Template or Page Template captures:
- Its name
- The Content Manager URI and title of each of the Template Building Blocks invoked
- The parameter values applied for each Template Building Block invocation
- The metadata fields of the Template
- The name and Content Manager URI of the Parameter Schema
- The name and Content Manager URI of the Metadata Schema
It does not capture the Parameter Schema or the Metadata Schema itself.
You can customize your Component Template snapshot or Page Template snapshot by editing the file TemplatePreview.xslt located in %TRIDION_HOME%\config\templates\.
- Template Building Blocks
-
By default, a snapshot of a Template Building Block captures:
- Its name
- The source code (for C# and Dreamweaver) or .DLL file (for .NET assembly) of the Template Building Block
- The metadata fields of the Template Building Block
- The name and Content Manager URI of the Metadata Schema
It does not capture the Metadata Schema itself.
You can customize your Template Building Block snapshot by editing the file TemplatePreview.xslt located in %TRIDION_HOME%\config\templates\.
- Bundles
-
By default, a snapshot of a Bundle captures:
- Its name
- The name and Content Manager URI of the Bundle Schema on which the Bundle is based
- The metadata fields of the Bundle
- The names and Content Manager URIs of the items in the Bundle
It does not capture the Bundle Schema, Metadata Schema itself, nor the Bundle items themselves.
You can customize your Bundle snapshot by editing the file BundlePreview.xslt located in %TRIDION_HOME%\config\templates\.
