Step 5: Specifying a package

The fifth step of exporting content is selecting a location and filename for your export package.

About this task

Content Porter stores all the items you select to export in a single ZIP archive file. The client suggests a location (as configured in the Content Porter settings) and filename (generated using the server name and a timestamp) for you. If left unchanged, the location in which Content Porter stores the exported content is the Content Porter\Packages subfolder of your Windows personal folder (%USERPROFILE%\Documents\ or its localized equivalent); analogously, Content Porter saves log files to the Content Porter\Logs subfolder by default.

Procedure

  1. To set the package, do one of the following:
    • Leave the path and filename as they are.
    • Alternatively, modify the path and/or package filename displayed by directly editing the text box.
    • Alternatively, click Browse and, in the standard Windows Save As dialog that appears, change the filename and/or folder as you like, and click Save. The dialog closes and shows the selected location and name in the main screen.
You have now confirmed or set the name and location of the package.
  2. Click Next.
The wizard proceeds to the next step.
