Unlocalizing items
Unlocalize the local copy of an item in a Child Publication to delete the local copy and use the shared item from the Parent Publication. The local copy is deleted and the read-only shared item is used in this Publication.
Before you begin
The User has the rights for the item they want to unlocalize. The User has unlocalize permission for the containing organizational item (Structure Group, Folder, Category). The item is a local copy. The local copy is not checked-out or in Workflow. For more information, see see Setting User and Group permissions for an organizational item.
Procedure
- Open Content Manager Explorer.
- In the list view, select the item you want to unlocalize.
- Open the Ribbon toolbar Organize tab and click Unlocalize.
Results
- The Content Manager unlocalizes the item and the Publication now uses the current version of the shared item instead, as does any Child Publications of this Publication that share the item that you unlocalized.
- If you unlocalize a Folder, Structure Group, or Category, any shared items in these organizational items are not unlocalized.
- The Content Manager removes any workflow associations for Schemas and Pages.
- This Publication now uses the security settings of the shared (organizational) item.
