Audience Manager functionality introduced in SDL Web 8.5

A number of functional changes in Audience Manager were introduced to SDL Web.

Changes to Template Building Blocks

Audience Manager has a number of new Template Building Blocks , most notable the Add Subscription URLs to Package, to include in your Page Template.

In the Adobe Dreamweaver Template inside your Dreamweaver Template Building Block, creating a link to @@AudienceManager_ConfirmURL@@ (as in, for example, Click here to confirm your subscription) results in a link to the Audience Manager subscription confirmation Web page.

Mailer service renamed

The Audience Manager Mailer service is now called "SDL Web Audience Manager Mailer".

Automatic synchronization of new Contact fields

If you create new Contact details using the Audience Manager Settings screen, SDL Web adds these details as new database columns to the Audience Manager database.

In the past, if the design of the Audience Manager database and Subscription database were not the same, such new database design changes would need to be manually applied to the Subscription database. (Such a scenario could easily occur in a scale-out scenario, where a default newly installed Subscription database would not contain custom columns that had previously been added to the Audience Manager database and synchronized to existing Subscription databases.)

But as of SDL Web 8.5, such synchronization takes place automatically (provided that the Audience Manager Synchronization Endpoint Service is up and running).
