- Product renamed from SDL Tridion to SDL Web
The product has changed its name from SDL Tridion to SDL Web. - New publishing framework
SDL Web 8.5 introduces a new publishing framework to replace the (now deprecated) existing publishing framework. - Improved Cloud support
SDL Web 8.5 brings in further optimizations and new options for running the product in the Cloud, whether you intend to run your SDL Web instance in a Cloud environment hosted by SDL itself, or SDL Web in your own hosted Cloud environment. SDL Web 8.5 also adds support for the Microsoft Azure and Amazon RDS (for SQL Server) Cloud hosting solutions. - Content Manager functionality introduced in SDL Web 8
In this release, new functionality in Content Manager focuses on the new publishing framework, introduces demotion and promotion in BluePrinting, and extends the functionality of non-checked-in items, among others. - Content Manager Explorer functionality introduced in SDL Web 8
