Content Manager Explorer functionality introduced in SDL Web 8.5
A number of functional changes were introduced to SDL Web.
- Topology Management slide-out navigation screen
-
The slide-out navigation now lets you examine the Topology of your SDL Web implementation in a Topology Management screen.
- New logo
-
The user interfaces of the product have been updated to use the new company logo and the new SDL Web product icon.
- User interfaces in Simplified Chinese
-
The user interfaces of the product can now be seen and used in Simplified Chinese (language code
zh-cn). - Multivalue fields can be rendered as a list builder GUI control
-
If an implementer designs a Schema field to be of type Select Box and makes it a multivalue field, the field appears to authors and editors as a list builder GUI control.
- Stricter security requirements
-
For a number of tasks, most notably tasks that require access to the slide-out Settings screen, security has been tightened: not all users can access this screen anymore. On the other hand, UGC moderation rights are now available by default to not only administrator-level users, but also to users with the Publication Administration right.
- Selecting a specific user to assign an Activity to
-
When a user finishes an Activity, they can now explicitly select a specific User to assign the Activity to.
- Filtering of Activities in Workflow Activities slide-out navigation screen
-
When looking at a list of assigned, started or finished Activities, users can now filter the list by entering a search string. This reduces the list to show only list items that contain the string.
- Item picker dialogs include Favorites node
-
A number of Content Manager Explorer dialogs in which the user selects a content item now include a Favorites node, granting the user access to relevant organizational items.
- Publication mapping in Content Manager Explorer
-
You can now map a Publication to one or more Web application locations in the Publishing tab of your Publications.
- Notification framework for use in GUI extensions
-
The GUI core has a new notification framework that sends out notifications for events happening in Content Manager. Your GUI extension can catch such notifications and respond the reported event.
