Content Porter security prerequisites
A Content Porter user needs read, write and execute rights to the Content Porter installation folder. You can find a link to this folder in the group in the Windows Start menu. The user also needs access to a number of folders, which are determined during use of the software.
Specifically, the user needs the following types of access:
- read access to any folder from which the user imports data
- write access to any folder to which the user exports data, a location which defaults to the Content Porter\Packages subfolder of your Windows personal folder (either c:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\ or c:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\My Documents\), or their localized equivalents.
- only if importing to SDL Tridion 2013 or older: read and write access to the Content Porter\RetryBatch\ subfolder of your Windows personal folder, where batches of failed items are saved to be retried.
- read, write and execute access to the folder to which Content Porter writes its logs (defaults to the Content Porter\Logs subfolder of your Windows personal folder). Note that this is only relevant if Content Porter is configured to store Content Porter logs on the client machine (this is the case by default).
