Implementing Translation Manager
Translation Manager allows you to send content stored in the Content Manager of SDL Web for translation to a translation management system (SDL World Server or SDL TMS). This section explains how to make Translation Manager work in your business environment.
- Translation Manager system diagram
Translation Manager integrates Content Manager with a translation system (SDL TMS or SDL WorldServer) ). - Setting up SDL TMS
If you are using SDL Translation Management System (TMS) as your translation system, you need to create an SDL TMS configuration that specifies the Language Pairs, Workflows, TMS Content Types, TMs and TM Sequences to use, before you can configure Content Manager for translation. - Setting up SDL WorldServer
If you are using SDL WorldServer as your translation system, you need to define Locales, Clients, Project Types, Workflows and a Filter Group for ITS before you can configure Content Manager for translation. - Configuring Translation Manager
This section describes the elements in the TranslationManager.xml file. - BluePrinting and translation
The design of your BluePrint hierarchy needs to reflect your translation strategy because the structure defined by your BluePrint drives translations and dictates the translation flow. This section explains the concept of BluePrinting and how the design of your BluePrint hierarchy needs to reflect your translation strategy. - Configuring source and target content
To be able to send content for translation from Content Manager, you need to specify source content which is sent to the translation management system and target content which receives the translated content. - Translation Manager workflows
Define a Workflow Process for Translation Manager in SDL Web to specify how a translation job flows through your organization. - Controlling content sent for translation
Translation Manager has various properties and settings that allow you to control the content that is sent for translation and how to send it to your translation management system. - Setting user rights for Translation Manager
Translation Manager uses Content Manager security to set user rights to users, or user groups, to allow them to perform tasks relating to translation. You can set Translation Management rights to allow users to send content for translation, and Translation Configuration rights to allow users to configure Publications, Folders, Structure Groups, and Categories for translation. - Translation Manager API and Plugin System
The Translation Manager API and Plugin System allow you to customize the Translation Manager. - Monitoring Translation Manager processes
Application Monitoring is a module of SDL Web that allows you to monitor the status of SDL Web processes including the Translation Manager Service process. - Purging Translation Jobs
The<PurgeJobDaysOld>element in the TranslationManager.xml file specifies the number of days after which a Completed or Canceled Translation Job is purged from the Translation Job Queue.
