Nonessential product features
Various parts of SDL Web provide specific functionality beyond the product core, and their installation is optional based on business needs. These nonessential product features typically require additional installation, configuration and implementation. Their installation topics are not in the installation section, but rather in the specific implementation section for that feature.
The additional product features are:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Context Engine | Use Context Engine to retrieve, and respond to, information about the user visiting your Web site, as well as the hardware and software used to access the site. |
| Contextual Image Delivery | Contextual Image Delivery lets you construct URLs that transform images for your Web site visitors server-side at request time, and serve the transformed images to the client. |
| Audience Manager | Audience Manager enables marketing departments to gather information about audiences, such as interests and characteristics. |
| Translation Manager | Translation Manager allows you to send content stored in Content Manager for translation to a translation management system (SDL World Server or SDL TMS). |
| User Generated Content | User Generated Content (UGC) allows visitors of your Web site to submit ratings and comments, and to enable your moderators to moderate the submitted comments. |
| Experience Optimization | Experience Optimization lets you integrate SDL Web with the Fredhopper product. |
| Context Expression Extension | The Context Expression Extension makes campaign management and analysis data, compiled by the SDL Intelligent Marketing Suite (also called CMA), available for use on your SDL Web-based Web site. To use the Context Expression Extension, you must have an integration with CMA set up. |
| Monitoring | The Monitoring feature allows you to monitor and report on the status of various SDL Web processes. |
This section explains some of these features in more detail.
