Recursive content
Recursive items are translatable Content Manager items that can contain nested items.
The following items can include nested items in a Translation Job:
- Folders contain Components and nested Folders
- Structure Groups contain Pages and nested Structure Groups
- Pages contain Components
- Categories contain Keywords which can contain nested Keywords
- Bundles and Virtual Folders can contain all of the above
The following image shows these items and nested items:
When you add a recursive item to a Translation Job, in the Added Items tab you can indicate whether you want to send item properties for translation and whether to add nested items. When the item is sent for translation, it—and each of its nested items (to an indefinite nesting level)—is evaluated and resolved individually to determine its inclusion, or exclusion, from the Translation Job.
- If the Translate Page check box is selected, the 'parent' page is included
- If the Translate Components on the Page check box is selected, the 'nested' items are included, this is recursion
- If the Translate Category check box is selected, the 'parent' page is included, namely, the Category itself
- If the Translate nested Keywords check box is selected, the 'nested' items are included, this is recursion
Example 3: the following image shows the Added Items tab for a Folder added to a Translation Job. This tab has the same controls for Bundles, Virtual Folders and Structure Groups.
- If Translate Pages and Organizational items is the only selected check box, only Test Folder itself is sent out for translation.
- If Translate nested items is the only selected check box, then Components, Multimedia Components and Keywords inside this Folder are sent out for translation, but no organizational items are sent out at all.
- If both Translate Pages and Organizational items and Translate nested items are selected, then Test Folder itself plus all content items and organizational items inside it are all sent out for translation.
