Richer functionality for non-checked-in items

In response to customer requests, the operations that a user can perform on a non-checked-in item have been expanded.

Linking
  • Users can link two non-checked-in items to each other, provided that both are in the same Workflow Process.
  • Users can link an item to a non-checked-in item generally, but to prevent undesirable information leaks, the non-checked-in item cannot be previewed or published. Publishing is prevented by setting the item's Approval Status to Unapproved as soon as it is created (if the item is configured to enter Bundle workflow).
Localization
A sufficiently authorized user can localize a non-checked-in item. The resulting behavior is as follows:
  • The localized item contains the content of the latest minor version of its parent item.
  • The only users who can read this item are the owner, administrators, workflow managers (if the item is in workflow), and revisors (if the item is in a reserved state or in the revisor's assignment list)
  • After it has been localized, undoing the checkout of the parent item fails
  • After it has been localized, terminating the workflow of the parent item fails.
  • It the parent item already has a checked-in version and if it is locked, localizing the item means localizing the last checked-in version, not the checked-out version.
  • If the non-checked-in item is in workflow, it can only be localized on a lower BluePrinting level than the context of that workflow.
  • Publications now have a minimal localizable approval status property, displayed in the user interface.
