Setting Manage Promotions and Manage Experiments rights

Users only have access to Promotions or Experiments for which they have rights: you set these rights (a Manage Promotions right and a Manage Experiments right) for Users and User Groups on a Target Type.

Before you begin

To set User and User Group rights on a Target Type, you require System Administrator privileges.

About this task

In the new publishing framework that was introduced in SDL Tridion Sites, each Target Type in a Business Process Type corresponds to a Content Delivery environment. When a user publishes content from Content Manager, for example to a Web site or Fredhopper, they need to select one or more Target Types. Content is then published to the Content Delivery environments associated with these Target Types.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Content Explorer.
  2. In the tree view, find a Publication whose content you intend to publish to Fredhopper.
  3. Right-click the Publication and select Properties from the context menu.
The Publication opens in a new dialog.
  4. In the General tab, check the Business Process Type property to find out which Business Process Type is associated with it.
  5. In the tree view, expand the Publication and its Business Process Types node. Select the Business Process Type you saw.
  6. Right-click the Business Process Type and select Properties from the context menu.
  7. Right-click the Business Process Type and select Properties from the context menu.
The Business Process Type opens in a new dialog.
  8. Select the Target Types tab.
  9. Select a Target Type on the left.
  10. Select the Security tab of the Target Type.
  11. In the Users and Groups pane, select a User or a User Group.
  12. In the Permissions pane, select one or both of the following depending on what rights you want to assign the users:
    • the Manage Promotions right.
    • the Manage Experiments right.
  13. Click Save and Close to commit your changes.
  14. Repeat the above steps for any other Target Types for which you want to enable publishing to Fredhopper.

Results

When the user opens the Targeting dashboard, they can only see:
  • the Promotion Lists for which they have Manage Promotions rights.
  • the Experiment Lists for which they have Manage Experiments rights.
