Setting Manage Promotions and Manage Experiments rights when using the deprecated publishing framework

Users only have access to Promotions or Experiments for which they have rights: you set these rights (a Manage Promotions right and a Manage Experiments right) for Users and User Groups on a Target Type. If you use the old publishing framework that was deprecated in SDL Tridion Sites 8, a Target Type specifies a user-friendly name for one or more Publication Targets.

About this task

When a user publishes content from Content Manager, for example to a Web site or Fredhopper, they need to select one or more Target Types. Content is then published to the Publication Targets associated with these Target Types.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Content Explorer.
  2. Select Administration in the navigation pane.
  3. In Publishing Management, select a Target Type and choose Properties from the context menu.
The Target Type opens in a new dialog.
  4. Select the Security tab of the Target Type.
  5. In the Users and Groups pane, select a User or a User Group.
  6. In the Permissions pane, select one or both of the following depending on what rights you want to assign the users:
    • the Manage Promotions right.
    • the Manage Experiments right.
  7. Click Save and Close to commit your changes.
  8. Repeat the above steps for any other Target Types for which you want to enable publishing to Fredhopper.

Results

When the user opens the Targeting dashboard, they can only see:
  • the Promotion Lists for which they have Manage Promotions rights.
  • the Experiment Lists for which they have Manage Experiments rights.
