Setting up Content Distribution in a legacy setup

Content Distribution in a legacy setup requires configuration on the Content Manager and on the Presentation Server. The following procedure provides an overview of the steps involved in setting up Content Distribution.

Procedure

  1. Set up Presentation Server—install Content Delivery software on a machine that you intend to use as a Presentation Server, including specific the in-process API Role:
  2. Set up Content Data Store—install a database where Content Delivery can store its content:
  3. Configure publishing—in the Content Manager, specify where you want to publish content to by defining Target Types and Publication Targets:
  4. Configure Transport Service—in the Content Manager, configure the Transport Service:
  5. Configure Deployment—on the Content Delivery Server, install and configure content deployment and storage and, if necessary, extend deployment behavior:
  6. Configure storage and caching—on the Presentation Server, configure the storage (if necessary) and caching of content in the Storage Layer:
  7. Test Content Distribution—test Content Distribution by publishing content from the Content Manager and verifying that it appears on a Web page on the Presentation Server.
