Upgrading Experience Optimization on Content Manager
To upgrade Experience Optimization, perform a number of upgrade and migration tasks.
- Upgrading Template Building Blocks when upgrading from SmartTarget 2014 SP1
SDL Web Experience Optimization 8.5 has new names for its Template Building Blocks, so you must rename your existing Template Building Blocks before running the Create Default Building Blocks command in Template Builder. - Migrating your existing publishing setup to the new publishing framework
SDL Tridion Sites 8 introduced a new publishing framework, involving Business Process Types and Topology Manager, to replace the (now deprecated) old publishing framework, involving Publication Targets. If you have migrated your SDL Tridion Sites implementation to use the new publishing framework, you also need to upgrade your SmartTarget publishing setup accordingly. Instead of having Publication Targets to configure, you instead use a mapping script to map your Publications to a Content Delivery environment that has the Experience Optimization Management Capability. You also need to grant the Target Types associated with your Publications' Business Process Type the right to manage Promotions and Experiments. - Upgrading Publication Targets when upgrading from SmartTarget 2014 SP1
If you are upgrading from SmartTarget 2014 SP1, several upgrade steps are needed. - Migrating Promotions
A migration tool is available so that you can migrate your SmartTarget 2014 SP1 Promotions to Experience Optimization in SDL Web.
